Jamshedpur, Feb 4: RSB Foundation, the social wing of RSB Global, have launched “Cancer Screening on wheel” service on the occasion of World Cancer day today.
The objective was to facilitate cancer screening in far flung areas of rural pockets of Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan district.
RSB Global Vice-Chairman and Managing Director S K Behera and RSB Foundation Director-cum-Company’s Head (Corporate Social Responsibility) Smt Priyanka Behera have flagged off the facility for villagers from the premises of Unit one of RSB Transmission (India) Limited in Seraikela-Kharswan district.
Describing the initiative as “important in health sector”, Behera said the mobile cancer screening unit will provide the cancer screening at the doorsteps of villagers.
The mobile cancer screening unit was formally launched following a year-long strategy and relentless endeavor, RSB Global MD said.
Among other, Head of Administrative, Meherbai Tata Cancer Hospital Amitabh Chatterjee, Vice-Chairperson of Jamshedpur Cancer Society Dr. Suchitra Mitra and Rotary Club President Ashok Jha were present on the occasion.
Cancer Screening on wheels is part of company’s Project Sambhavi, which aimed to provide cancer screening facility in remote areas and create awareness about the disease among villagers of the district to prevent it at its initial stage itself.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers said the possibility of cure of cancer increases many fold if detected at the early stage.
The mobile unit help the villagers, who were facing difficulty to reach hospital.
“Humility in Service” being the RSB’s mantra, the company has been carrying out social service in sectors including health, education, welfare and the project is an important of its commitment.
The initiative is a significant step towards fighting the serious disease.
The project is an excellent example of a joint effort of RSB Foundation in co-ordination with Rotary Club, MTMH, Tata Steel Foundation.
