JAMSHEDPUR।

A heart-wrenching and gruesome incident occurred late Tuesday night in the Karandih Line Tola under the Parsudih police station area of Jamshedpur. A 35-year-old man was brutally murdered over the suspicion of having an illicit affair, sending shockwaves and panic through the entire locality. Upon receiving the information, the Parsudih police reached the crime scene on Wednesday morning, took the body into custody, and sent it to the hospital for a post-mortem. Taking swift and decisive action, the police arrested the accused, Raju Murmu.
Victim’s Identity and the Root of the Conflict
According to the information provided by the police, the deceased has been identified as Mohan Soren (35). By profession, he was a convoy driver and originally hailed from the neighboring state of Odisha. Currently, his brothers reside in the Naya Basti area of Sundarnagar. Reportedly, Mohan was a frequent visitor to the house of Raju Murmu, a resident of Karandih. Mohan used to respectfully call Raju’s wife, Savita Murmu, his ‘foster aunt’ (muh-boli mami). However, Raju harbored a deep and festering suspicion regarding an illicit relationship between his wife and Mohan. This persistent suspicion was the root cause of frequent and severe domestic disputes in their household.
The Horrifying Night: Wife Beaten and Thrown Out
According to local sources, late Tuesday night, Mohan Soren visited Raju’s house once again. During this time, a heated argument erupted among Raju, his wife Savita, and Mohan over the old suspicion of the affair. The argument escalated rapidly, and in a fit of blinding rage, Raju mercilessly thrashed his wife Savita and physically threw her out of the house. Terrified for her life and safety, Savita fled the scene with her two children and took shelter at a neighbor’s house to spend the night.

Beaten to Death with a Steel Pot
After the wife was kicked out, only Raju and Mohan remained inside the house. The altercation between the two men then took a violent and fatal turn. Completely losing his temper, Raju picked up a heavy steel pot (dekchi) kept in the kitchen and launched a relentless, merciless attack on Mohan. Due to severe, repetitive blows to his head and other sensitive parts of his body, a profusely bleeding Mohan collapsed and tragically died on the spot. On Wednesday morning, when Savita cautiously returned home, she discovered Mohan’s blood-soaked body, after which the authorities were alerted.
Police Action and Evidence Recovery
Upon receiving the horrific news, the Parsudih police arrived at the location with a full team. After thoroughly inspecting the crime scene, the investigating officers recovered the deceased’s mobile phone, the blood-stained heavy steel pot used as the murder weapon, and other crucial forensic evidence. The police have formally arrested Raju Murmu on murder charges, and he is currently undergoing intense interrogation at the police station. This brutal incident has once again highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic conflicts and suspicion in the city.
