Jamshedpur: In a highly sensitive and commendable initiative by the East Singhbhum district administration and the Health Department, five innocent children of the district have received a new lease of life. These children, who were suffering from severe Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), successfully underwent free-of-cost heart surgeries in top-tier hospitals in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Following their successful operations, the completely recovered children returned to their homes in Jamshedpur. They were given a warm welcome at the Civil Surgeon’s office, where Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal personally met them and wished them a healthy and bright future.
Free Successful Surgeries in Mumbai and Hyderabad
With the collaborative efforts of the district administration, these children were sent to the state-of-the-art facilities of the ‘Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care’ for advanced treatment. The five children who benefited from this scheme are Omshri (Dhalbhumgarh), Maheshwar Baske (Dhalbhumgarh), Latika (Potka), Premvati Sardar (Potka), and Santoshi Murmu (Bodam).
Under the guidance of the Civil Surgeon, one child was sent to the Kharghar (Navi Mumbai) center, while the other four underwent successful surgeries by expert surgeons at the Kondapaka (Hyderabad) center.
RBSK Team Identified the Disease Early
The holes in the hearts and other congenital issues in these young ones were initially identified by the ‘Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram’ (RBSK) team during screening at various health and Anganwadi centers across the district. Displaying great promptness, the DEIC (District Early Intervention Center) team at Sadar Hospital established the necessary coordination and referred the children outside the state for high-level treatment without any delay.
Treatment and Travel Expenses Completely Free
On this joyful occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal stated that the Jharkhand Government provides free check-ups and surgical facilities for children suffering from congenital heart disease at selected premier institutes in Kharghar (Mumbai), Hyderabad, and Raipur. Additionally, the government bears the entire travel expenses for the patients and their attendants. He appealed to all parents to immediately contact the nearest government health center if they observe any symptoms of congenital heart disease in their children, ensuring timely medical intervention.
Grateful Parents Thank DC and Civil Surgeon
Seeing their children get a second chance at life, the parents were moved to tears. They expressed their deepest gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum, the Civil Surgeon, and the entire medical team.
