Bahragora (East Singhbhum):
A potential disaster was averted late Monday night after a propylene gas leak was reported near Jamshola on the Bahragora–Baripada highway. Thanks to the swift and coordinated response of district administration, NDRF teams, fire services, and technical experts, the situation has now been brought under complete control.
According to the official update, the leaking gas was safely transferred from the damaged tanker to another vehicle under expert supervision. The new tanker has since proceeded toward its destination. Traffic movement on the national highway has been fully restored, and the area has returned to normalcy.
Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi visited the site personally to oversee the operations. He commended the prompt action taken by all response teams including the NDRF, fire brigade, district police, and local villagers. He stated, “The swift response and coordination between teams helped prevent a potentially hazardous situation. Our top priority was public safety and the restoration of normal life, which we have successfully achieved.”
As a precautionary measure, residents in the immediate vicinity were temporarily evacuated during the transfer process. The district administration ensured that all safety protocols were strictly followed throughout the emergency response.
The gas leak was first detected late on Monday night, prompting an immediate alert. Within minutes, emergency services were activated, and the affected area was cordoned off to avoid any risk of fire or contamination. The technical team then worked overnight to contain the leak and execute the gas transfer without incident.
Officials confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries reported in connection with the incident. The situation was handled efficiently and without panic, thanks in part to timely communication and public cooperation.
Following the incident, the administration has ordered an inquiry into the cause of the leak to ensure that such risks are minimized in the future. Authorities are also considering stricter checks and guidelines for transporting hazardous materials through densely populated or sensitive areas.
