Jamshedpur: The 25th edition of the Ramarchan Puja is being organized in Bistupur, Jamshedpur, starting Thursday on the occasion of Guru Purnima. The two-day religious ceremony is taking place at J-42, Bistupur, and has been personally initiated and funded by Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Mr. Roy informed that the puja will commence at 8 AM on July 10, followed by Rudrabhishek on July 11 at 8 AM. After the Rudrabhishek, Mahaprasad will be distributed at Milani Hall for all devotees.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Roy emphasized that the Ramarchan Puja is entirely funded from his personal savings and no external donations or assistance are accepted. “The main aim is to introduce and preserve Sanatani traditions among people,” he added.
He further explained that the tradition of Ramarchan Puja originated in Ayodhya and has since spread to different parts of the country. “In Jamshedpur, people have now started associating Guru Purnima with Ramarchan Puja and the first day of Shravan month with prasad distribution,” he noted.
The Puja involves the worship of Lord Ram and his allies, including Hanuman, Angad, Jambavan, Vibhishan, and the entire royal family of King Dashrath. It also includes special prayers to Goddess Kali and Lord Shiva. The puja ceremony spans over 7 to 8 hours.
According to Mr. Roy, the deeper purpose of the ritual is to express devotion to Lord Ram and to inspire society to adopt the values and conduct of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram in daily life.
Highlighting the uniqueness of the event, Mr. Roy said that on July 11, after the Rudrabhishek, a special prasad will be served which includes “Haathikan Poori” (elephant-ear shaped poori), prepared exclusively by skilled artisans from Buxar.
He extended an open invitation to all residents to attend the puja and partake in the divine prasad the next day.
Preparations are in the final stages and a large turnout of devotees is expected.
