Jamshedpur. The issue of tribal identity and rights once again echoed in Jharkhand’s politics. On Sunday, thousands gathered at the XLRI auditorium in Jamshedpur for the Tribal Mahadarbar. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren, who attended as the chief speaker, announced that on December 22, five lakh tribals will unite at Bhognadih to launch a new land rights movement.
In his address, Champai Soren strongly criticized the state government and Tata Company. He alleged that the current government is ignoring the rights and interests of the tribal community. In the name of development, tribals are continuously being pushed to the margins. Jharkhand, born out of the long struggle and sacrifices of tribals, still sees its community deprived of its rightful share.
The former CM also made serious allegations against Tata Company, stating that while the company has utilized Jharkhand’s land and natural resources for decades, it has failed to provide fair benefits to the local tribal society. Even in basic sectors like employment, education, and healthcare, tribals are not given priority.
He emphasized that the tribal community must now unite to fight for its rights. Appealing to the people present in the Mahadarbar, he warned that if the government and companies continue to neglect tribal interests, they will launch protests both on the streets and in the legislature.
