
Jamshedpur:World Environment Day is the biggest annual event for positive environmental action and takes place every 5th June. Tata Steel Zoological Park has embarked on a mission to enforce stringent anti-littering measures within the Zoo premises to meet its prime goal and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share. It’s time for us to educate more and more people especially the student fraternity to enhance awareness on importance of preserving our biodiversity and let’s pledge also to make earth a better place to live in by keep it clean and green by organising various theme based educational activities.


Tata Steel observes World Environment Day reinforcing its commitment for a sustainable future
To celebrate the day, Tata Steel Zoological Park organised an “Art in Nature”, an on the spot painting competition for students of school and colleges. The celebration was kick-started at morning 08.30 am. The competition was revolved around this year’s theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”. There are two sub topic for the competition, for Grp-A Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – Build a Plastic Free Future and Grp-B-Beat plastic pollution, Substitutes are the solution.
Mrs Satabdi Mazumder, (IAS), SDM, Dhalbhum, Jamshedpur was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. The results for the Art in Nature Competition were declared and the winners awarded. The chief judge of the completion was Mr. Krishna Sharan Mahato, Sr. Art Teacher, Jamshedpur School of Arts. The winners are:

The entire programme was coordinated and executed by Dr. Seema Rani, Biologist and Education Officer at TSZP, along with a team of art teachers from the city, Somnath Choudhary and Ujjwal, besides Zoo personnel.
