Tata Steel UISL Inaugurates Two Biogas Plants at Naval Tata Hockey Academy and Bari Maidan, Strengthening Commitment to Sustainable Waste Management in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel UISL inaugurated two new Biogas Plants at the Naval Tata Hockey Academy and Bari Maidan today, marking another key milestone in its commitment to decentralized waste management and renewable energy generation.
The facilities were inaugurated by Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, in the presence of Mr. Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL.
Also present on the occasion were Mr. Varun Bajaj, Chief, Town Infrastructure, Tata Steel; Mr. Sanjeev Chaudhary, President, Tata Workers Union; Mr. Satish Kumar Singh, General Secretary, Tata Workers Union; Mr. Rabindra Kumar Singh, General Manager, Town O&M; along with members of the senior leadership team from Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL.

With these two new installations, a total of 25 biogas units have now been set up across Jamshedpur including hotels and institutions. These units convert organic waste into clean, renewable energy—reducing landfill waste, lowering carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable urban infrastructure.
Tata Steel UISL is also planning to enhance the food waste intake capacity at its existing biogas facilities to include inputs from nearby residents, further scaling the impact of this green initiative and advancing its waste-to-energy mission.
This initiative aligns with Tata Steel’s broader sustainability vision, reinforcing its leadership in renewable energy adoption and responsible urban development.
