Tata Steel observes Ethics month

Jamshedpur, Tata Steel observed the opening of the Ethics month celebrations through virtual platform. The theme for this year is ‘Resilience through Empathy and Kindness’. The theme is centred around the need of being sensitive and empathetic to the communities and various other stakeholders of the organisation. The day marked the beginning of a month-long celebration to reinforce Tata Steel`s commitment to ethics. The employees also took a digital pledge.

Every year, the month of July is celebrated in Tata Steel as the Ethics Month in keeping with the tradition of inculcating ethical practices in the workplace.  This year, various competitions are being organised such as photography contest, video making contest, quizzes, polls etc. There are various contests organised for employee’s children as well which includes essay writing and poster making contest. In addition to these, Ethics Zone, Ethical dilemma- “Ab Kya Karein”, webinars, discussions and an online musical event are also being planned to reinforce the value of ethics amongst the employees.

In view of the prevalent COVID-19 pandemic situation, the events are being organised following the COVID-19 protocols while most of the events would be conducted online .

Tata Steel strongly believes in Ethical Business Conduct from the time of its inception. These ethical values were first articulated through Tata Code of Conduct (TCOC) in the year 1998. The Company’s Code of Conduct has set a guideline with respect to standard of behaviour to be followed by the Company, its employees and other business partners and all employees and business partners of Tata Steel signs this TCOC compliance undertaking before joining work.
