On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, along with the official delegation of the Government of Jharkhand, held a high-level meeting with the senior leadership of Tata Steel.
During the meeting, Tata Steel reaffirmed its commitment to invest a total of ₹11,000 crore in Jharkhand under the New Age Green Steel Technology, formalized through a Letter of Intent and Cooperation Agreement. The proposed investments include ₹7,000 crore for Hirsana Easy and Melt Technology, ₹1,500 crore for the Combi Mill project, and ₹2,600 crore for Tinplate expansion. All projects will employ environmentally-friendly green steel technologies, incorporating advanced innovations from the Netherlands and Germany.
Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren emphasized that the Government of Jharkhand prioritizes sustainable industrial growth, clean technology, and local employment generation. The partnership with Tata Steel is expected to strengthen the State’s industrial capacity, position Jharkhand as a leader in green industrial transformation, and contribute to national goals for green energy and climate-resilient development.
Hitachi & Tech Mahindra also presented proposals for investment in power, high-level grid infrastructure, and advanced facilities and IT, respectively.

CM Honored & Sweden Collaboration
Chief Minister Hemant Soren was honored with a White Badge by the WEF, and a formal Letter of Cooperation was handed over. This collaboration aligns with three key themes of WEF’s Centres of Excellence: Critical Minerals & New Energy, Climate Action & Biodiversity, and Just Energy Transition. Jharkhand’s Vision 2050 closely aligns with WEF’s inclusive societies approach, laying the groundwork for long-term learning, knowledge-sharing, and operational partnerships.
Following the outcomes of the Jharkhand government’s official visit to Sweden last year, Sweden has shown interest in investing in Urban Transport. A Sweden–India Roundtable is planned in April to explore further collaboration and investment. During the Davos meetings, the Chief Minister also met with Swedish companies previously engaged during the official visit.
Women Political Leadership Collaboration
Representatives from the World Women Leaders Forum expressed interest in partnering with the Government of Jharkhand to strengthen women’s political leadership, especially among women from marginalized communities. Proposals were also discussed for establishing an India Chapter and a non-partisan forum of women representatives from all political parties, providing a platform for dialogue, capacity-building, and collaboration.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the official delegation were joined in the meetings by Tata Steel MD & CEO, Mr. T.V. Narendran, Ms. Cecilia Oldne, Chief India Representative, Sweden India Business Council, Ms. Silvana Koch-Mehrin, President, Women Political Leaders Forum, Mr. Viraj Mehta, World Economic Forum (WEF), Mr. Bharat Kaushal, Regional Head, Hitachi, Mr. Sahil Dhawan, Head & President, IMEA Division, Tech Mahindra.
