Jamshedpur: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, reaffirmed its commitment to The Greater Good with the successful organisation of its annual Blood Donation Drive on 13th August 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Fr. Prabhu Hall. The initiative was spearheaded by the institute’s social initiatives committee, Team SIGMA-oikos, in collaboration with Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Jamshedpur.
The event was inaugurated with a symbolic lamp-lighting ceremony by Dr. (Fr.) Donald D’Silva, S.J., Dean (Administration & Finance), setting the tone for a day dedicated to compassion, solidarity and service to humanity.
This year’s drive witnessed an inspiring 25% increase in participation over the previous year, with enthusiastic donors from XLRI’s HRM, BM, GMP, and FPM programmes, alongside faculty, staff and their families. Many first-time donors stepped forward, embodying the spirit of selflessness that defines the XLRI community.
A total of 100+ units of blood were collected, potentially saving over 300 lives. The donated blood will benefit cancer patients, individuals requiring urgent transfusions and underprivileged patients in government and charitable hospitals. All procedures were conducted by trained medical professionals following stringent safety and hygiene protocols. Donors were presented with certificates, souvenirs and refreshments in gratitude for their life-saving contribution.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. (Fr.) Donald D’Silva remarked, “At XLRI, service is not just a value we teach—it is a way of life we practice. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to societal well-being and to nurturing leaders who act for the greater good.”
The annual blood donation drive is a longstanding tradition at XLRI, directly supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By fostering strong partnerships and community engagement, XLRI continues to translate its mission of Excellence with Integrity into tangible societal impact.
