Jamshedpur,: Tata Main Hospital (TMH), Jamshedpur, celebrated a remarkable milestone as its Vascular Surgery department completed 500+ open surgical cases within just 20 months of inception.
The specialty of Vascular Surgery was introduced at TMH in January 2024, making the hospital the first in Jharkhand to offer such advanced care. The department, led by Dr Prashant Raman, MCh (Vascular Surgery), began from scratch and has since grown to provide comprehensive treatment to patients who earlier needed referrals to Tier-1 cities.
The department has expanded its services to include a wide range of advanced procedures such as, Peripheral vascular bypasses for trauma and critical limb ischemia, Laser ablation for complicated venous diseases, Hemodialysis access for patients with kidney failure, Carotid artery disease management for stroke patients, Angioembolization for cases of active bleeding and Multiple endovascular interventions.
With these expanded facilities, the monthly OPD footfall has risen from double digits to over 250+ patients, reflecting the growing trust of the community.
To mark this achievement, a celebration was held at TMH and attended by senior leadership and medical experts from Tata Steel, including Dr Vinita Singh, General Manager Medical Services, Dr Ashok Sunder, CMIS, Dr Mamta Rath Dutta, CMMS, Dr Mrunal Panchal, HOD General Surgery, Dr Sanjay Nag, HOD Anaesthesiology, Dr Asif Ahmed, HOD Critical Care Medicine and Dr Jeevesh Mallik, HOD Neurosurgery, among others.
On this occasion, Dr Prashant Raman expressed deep gratitude to the hospital management, OT staff, and colleagues for their unwavering support in making the department a centre of excellence.
This achievement marks not only a medical milestone but also a testament to TMH’s commitment to bringing world-class healthcare closer to the people of Jharkhand.
