Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Jamshedpur celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with pride and solemnity at the Works Main Gate, where the National Flag was unfurled by D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel.



The ceremony was attended by senior officials of Tata Steel, representatives of the Tata Workers’ Union (TWU), retired executives, members of the Senior Advisory Council of the city and media fraternity.
Addressing the gathering after the flag unfurling, Sundara Ramam highlighted that the Constitution of India forms the bedrock of the nation’s democratic values, symbolising freedom, unity, justice and equality. He reflected on India’s journey as a sovereign republic and emphasised that Republic Day serves as a reminder of collective responsibility in nation-building.
He stated that Tata Steel remains committed to being the Nation’s partner in its journey towards a Viksit Bharat, aligned with the vision of India becoming a developed nation by 2047. He underscored the Company’s continued investments in India, responsible growth, and focus on sustainable steelmaking.

Sundara Ramam further noted that Tata Steel is progressing steadily towards Net Zero emissions by 2045, driven by initiatives in renewable energy, circular economy practices and the adoption of innovative green technologies. He also highlighted the strength of the ‘One Tata Steel’ philosophy, reflecting the Company’s collaborative approach across its global operations.
Emphasising Tata Steel’s deep-rooted connection with communities, he shared that the Company’s journey of over a century has extended beyond infrastructure development to sustained contributions in education, healthcare, skill development, sports, sanitation and livelihood creation. He added that diversity, inclusion and employee well-being remain central to Tata Steel’s organisational ethos.
Following the flag unfurling and his address, Sundara Ramam interacted with members of the media, sharing Tata Steel’s perspective on nation-building, sustainability and the Company’s continued role in India’s growth story.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of national pride and commitment among all those present.
