The Do-able Things for School Children and Parents
Jamshedpur: In its endeavour to inculcate safety awareness among school children, SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone) organised a comprehensive training session in Kerala Samajam Auditorium for 600 students, parents, and SAFE coordinators from 29 schools.
The initiative aims to introduce innovative approaches to enhance road safety awareness across schools.
The session was inaugurated by Mrs. Nandini Shukla, Principal, Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS), and Saroj Kumar Banerjee, Chief, Safety Raw Materials Division, Tata Steel. The faculty for the Road Safety segment was Prof. Sunil Sarangi from XLRI Jamshedpur, who shared insights on communication and behavioural sciences. The Fire Safety session was conducted by Abhay Ranjan, Senior Manager, Fire Technology, Tata Steel.

Saroj Kumar Banerjee encouraged students to actively participate and make maximum use of such sessions by engaging more interactively.
Moon Mitra, Convener, SAFE, informed that the target audience for this programme included students from Class IX to XII, along with their parents and SAFE coordinators. She added that SAFE will continue organising similar sessions with relevant topics for school children as part of its ongoing efforts.
The programme also featured a question-and-answer session where students interacted with faculty members and sought clarifications on various safety-related topics.
SAFE is currently active in 32 schools in Jamshedpur, 4 schools in Jharia, 7 schools under OMQ, and 7 schools of West Bokaro Division, chaired by Ms. Ruchi Narendran. Tata Steel continues to support this initiative by implementing a structured annual plan to promote safety awareness among school communities.
