Jamshedpur: A tragic incident shook Shankosai’s Shyamnagar area when the body of 24-year-old Pradeep Sahu, missing for the last four days, was recovered from the banks of the Swarnarekha River on Wednesday morning. Local residents, who had gone to the Shyamnagar Chhath Ghat for their daily routine, were startled to find a body floating near the riverbank. Upon closer inspection, they identified it as Pradeep, who had mysteriously disappeared on Sunday.
The locals immediately informed the police, following which a team reached the spot and retrieved the body. Police sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause and time of death. As soon as the news reached Pradeep’s home, the family broke down in grief. His sudden death has created an atmosphere of sorrow and anger across the locality.
According to Pradeep’s family, he had gone out with three acquaintances on Sunday. That same night, he went missing. The family alleges that these three companions, who are now in police custody, murdered Pradeep in a brutal manner and disposed of his body by throwing it into the river. They claim that the motive may have been a personal dispute, though the exact reasons are yet to be confirmed.
Former BJP leader Vikas Singh reached the spot after receiving the information and met the grieving family. Expressing condolences, he vowed to ensure strict action against the culprits. He stated that the incident points to a serious crime and those responsible must be punished without delay. He further assured the family of full support in seeking justice.
Meanwhile, the police have begun an intensive investigation. They have inspected the Chhath Ghat area and nearby surroundings, reportedly finding several clues that indicate foul play. Interrogation of the three detained suspects is underway, and the police are examining all possible angles—including personal enmity, financial disputes, or sudden altercation.
The postmortem report is expected to shed more light on the cause of death, helping to strengthen the investigation. Officers have said that the case will be dealt with under stringent legal action and no leniency will be shown to the accused if their involvement is confirmed.
The recovery of Pradeep’s body has left residents of Shyamnagar in shock. People are demanding strict punishment for the accused and enhanced security in the locality to prevent such incidents in the future. What began as a missing case has now turned into a suspected murder, leaving a painful void in Pradeep’s family and raising serious questions about safety in the region.
