Jamshedpur:
Panic spread across the city late Thursday night after a fierce encounter broke out between the police and three notorious criminals near the Sai Mandir under the Bistupur थाना area. The incident took place between 2:30 am and 3:00 am while the police had taken the accused to the spot for the recovery of hidden weapons in connection with the kidnapping of industrialist Kairav Gandhi.
Identity of the Injured Criminals
According to police officials, the injured accused have been identified as Guddu Singh, Mohammad Imran Alam, and Rameez Raja, all residents of Bihar. They are known to be involved in several serious crimes, including kidnapping and extortion cases. Police had been interrogating them for their role in the high-profile abduction case.
Attack During Weapon Recovery
During questioning, the accused revealed that after the kidnapping of Kairav Gandhi, they had hidden weapons in bushes near Sai Mandir before attempting to flee the city. Acting on this information, the police took all three to the location late Thursday night.
At the spot, Guddu Singh suddenly snatched the carbine from the bodyguard of Bistupur Police Station In-charge Alok Dubey and opened fire on the police team. The sudden attack created chaos, though Inspector Alok Dubey narrowly escaped unhurt.
In self-defense, the police fired five rounds. All three criminals were hit and collapsed at the spot. The police later recovered several empty cartridges and three pistols from the scene.
Hospitalised Under Heavy Security
The injured criminals were immediately shifted to MGM Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment under strict police security. Additional forces have been deployed in and around the hospital to prevent any untoward incident.
Police Statement
City SP Kumar Shivashish stated that the three accused had been on the police radar for a long time and were involved in multiple kidnapping and ransom cases. He added that their criminal network spans across Jharkhand and Bihar, and further investigation is underway to identify their associates.

Police have launched a detailed probe into the entire incident. The encounter is being considered a major breakthrough in the fight against organized crime in the city.
