JAMSHEDPUR : The capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi, is set to host the Defence Expo East Tech 2025 for the first time from September 19 to 21. Organized in collaboration with the Eastern Command of the Indian Army and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), the event will take place at the Vishwanath Shahdeo Stadium in Khelgaon.
Over 200 vendors associated with defence and technology will participate in this three-day grand event, including more than 50 MSMEs and startups. Additionally, DRDO and several leading private companies will showcase their advanced military technologies. The event will feature live demonstrations of army equipment and an exhibition of cutting-edge defence technologies.
Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, addressed business leaders and intellectuals in a session at a hotel in Bistupur, Jamshedpur. He said defence experts, technical institutes, and MSMEs from across the country would participate, making the expo a platform to strengthen India’s self-reliant defence production capabilities.
Sanjay Seth highlighted that India, once dependent on defence imports, now exports defence products to 92 countries. He cited Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev as recent examples of India’s growing military strength. The Minister also urged shopkeepers to promote the “Swadeshi Apnao” campaign, encouraging citizens to support indigenous products and make it a nationwide movement.
Inder Agarwal, President of ASIA, said the event would provide a golden opportunity for Kolhan traders. The expo will also feature B2B meetings, enabling direct coordination between traders and the defence sector.
BJP leader Kulwant Singh Bunty stated that the Defence Expo in Ranchi symbolizes India’s self-reliant defence capacity. He emphasized that just as indigenous technologies are being promoted in defence, similar efforts should be made in daily life and business to support local products.

The program was coordinated by Anil Modi, Vice President of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce. The inauguration was attended by senior leaders, industrialists, and government representatives, highlighting the importance of this event for regional trade and national defence initiatives.
