Significant progress has been achieved in the proposed Budamara–Chakulia railway line project in East Singhbhum district, as local landowners (raiyats) have extended their consent for land acquisition following a series of gram sabha meetings held across multiple villages.

Gram Sabhas Held for Public Consultation
In line with directives from district administration, gram sabhas were organized in several villages to engage directly with landowners and address their concerns regarding land acquisition. The initiative was undertaken under the guidance of Karn Satyarthi, while the meetings were chaired by Gunjan Sinha.
Villages Covered Under the Meetings
The gram sabhas were conducted in mouzas including Bhurshan, Khairbani, Tobhabani, Gaurangpur, Mauda, and Hijli. A large number of villagers and landowners participated in these consultations and actively shared their concerns and queries.
Detailed Information Shared with Landowners
During the meetings, officials explained the necessity of the railway project, its expected benefits, and the legal provisions related to the land acquisition process. Authorities highlighted that the project will significantly improve regional connectivity and contribute to overall socio-economic development.
Concerns Addressed by Officials
Landowners raised several questions and concerns regarding compensation, acquisition procedures, and potential impacts. Officials assured them that all grievances would be addressed satisfactorily and that the entire process would be carried out in a transparent and fair manner.
Consent for Project Execution
After detailed discussions and clarifications, all participating landowners agreed to provide their consent for the construction work. This unanimous approval marks a crucial milestone and is expected to accelerate the implementation of the railway project.

Presence of Officials and Railway Representatives
The meetings were attended by the District Land Acquisition Officer along with representatives from South Eastern Railway, including the Assistant Executive Engineer from the Kharagpur division. Local administrative officials and villagers from the respective mouzas also participated.

The Budamara–Chakulia railway line project is expected to enhance connectivity in the region, facilitating easier movement of goods and passengers. It is also anticipated to create employment opportunities and promote trade and economic activities in surrounding areas.
