Jamshedpur News :150 Students Awarded Jyoti Fellowship by Tata Steel Foundation at Arunima 2025

 Sukinda/Jamshedpur: In a day-long seminar organized today at Sukinda Chromite Mines premises of Tata Steel, Tata Steel Foundation awarded Jyoti Fellowship to 150 meritorious SC/ST students. All the students have been selected from the Kalinganagar-Bamnipal-Sukinda ecosystem. This fellowship is awarded to students from class IX to XII.

Pankaj Kumar Satija, Executive-in-Charge of the Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division at Tata Steel, Padma Shri Daitari Naik, also known as the ‘Canal Man of Odisha’, Subhash Chandra Rout, President-Awardee Teacher, Sayantan Mitra, Cluster Manager of STEM Learning Pvt. Ltd., Binita Das, Principal of Khairbani Ashram School in Baisinga, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, and other dignitaries presented the awards to the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Satija, Executive-in-Charge of the Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division at Tata Steel said, ”We are profoundly committed to empowering meritorious students to pursue education and carve their paths to success. This initiative reinforces our  dedication to the communities we serve, grounded in the principles of continuous learning, and collaboration for developing each student as a responsible citizen of the country. We challenge every student to aim higher, break barriers, and realize their aspirations for a better world. ”

The day-long seminar featured workshops, showcasing how worms are woven into silk, bridging accessibility gaps for individuals with disabilities, and emphasizing the significance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning. Opportunities for capacity building aligned with the Skill India initiative of the Government of India were also discussed. The students participated in a session on water conservation, exploring ways to preserve this vital resource and diversify its uses.

Shri Daitari Naik introduced innovative and simple methods for water conservation while highlighting its importance for the community and the environment. The seminar was also attended by Naveen Srivastava, Head of Twin Mines of Saruabil and Kamarda, Adarsh Agarwal, Head of FAP Bamnipal, Pramod Kumar, Head of Admin for FAMD, Ambika Prasad Nanda, Head of CSR at Tata Steel Foundation, Dr. Jayant Tripathy, Head of the Sukinda-Bamnipal Cluster, and Debanjan Mukherjee, Head of the Kalinganagar Impact Cluster, along with several other team members from the Foundation.

The Jyoti Fellowship is a scholarship initiative by the Tata Steel Foundation aimed at encouraging students to pursue a career of their choice with additional coaching and support from classes IX to XII. Over the past decade, 13,500 students, including more than 5,000 girls, have received the Jyoti Fellowship in the Sukinda-Bamnipal-Kalinganagar ecosystem.
