MAXI Fair 2018 was inaugurated on the winter evening of 12th of January, in the presence of themedia at XLRI Jamshedpur.This year the fair saw an unprecedented footfall right from day 1, on the 13thJanuary. Events likeMasterchef and Kids’ Fashion Show were the biggest crowd pullers on the 13th with parents flockingthe fairground with their little fashionistas. Masterchef saw 8 home cooks battling it out on thefairground for the coveted title.The second day of MAXI Fair opened up with a pledge to begin a fitterlife with Healthy JamshedpurHappy Jamshedpur, an event comprising of a Yoga, Zumba and fitness session. This early morningaffair was well-attended by people of all age groups, showcasing the increasing health consciousnessamongst the average Jamshedpur citizens.Following this was the Art Attack drawing competition for kids of the 5-15 age group. It betteredupon its brilliant attendance of the previous year with more than 150 little Picassos queuing up toshowcase their prowess. With Classmate art supplies being used all across, the children brought outtheir imaginations with brilliant colours.The little ones continued to wow us with their flair through their dance. The 80+ participants – be itsolo or group performances, western dance form or Indian, had the judges in a fix as to how to choose the best ofthe best.Post that, it was time for families to unite and fight it out against other clans in a bid to win not justthe glory of the being called ‘Jamshedpur’s Favourite Family’ but also take away bumper offers likeTata Steel Pravesh Doors, washing machines, mobile handsets and the like. It was a one of a kindevent where all three generations came together to stake a claim to the bounty.
One of the highlights for this year’s MAXI Fair was a jump in registration for events. The two newevents that were introduced this year, Jamshedpur’s Favourite Family and Healthy Jamshedpur,Happy Jamshedpur were received enthusiastically by the citizens of the Steel City.The footfall for the Fair exceeded 8000 this year, with most visitors to the fair flocking the groundsthroughout the afternoon.
In terms of research, MAXI Fair lived up to its billing as the premier destination for disguisedmarketing research. Visitors were captivated by the games that the students had set up, with ChachaChoudhury and ChhotaBheem among the more popular ones.
The evening was brought to a close by the highlight of the two-day extravaganza – the comedy night by widely beloved comedian-actor-poet Shailesh Lodha of Taarak Mehta kaOoltaChashma fame. Mr. Lodha had the crowd in splits with his relatable yet funny accounts ofeveryday life interspersed with thought-provoking poetry. Jamshedpur’s people simply could not getenough of the multi-faceted star as the fairgrounds continued to ring with thunderous applauseeven as he exited the stage post his performance.
With this, the 39thedition of MAXI Fair was brought to a close in a manner that left crowd wantingfor more and looking forward to the surprises the 40thversion would bring with it.
