ISA PROJECT – BRITISH COUNCIL ACTIVITY
JUSCO SCHOOL SOUTH PARK organised a competition ‘FOLK TALES OPERA’ in their premises as part of the British Council, ISA Project. Folk Tales being a part of an oral tradition originated in the era before literacy and passed down from one generation to another. The students of Std. VI staged Folk Tales of different countries such as Srilanka, Scotland, Italy, Nepal, Turkey & Bangladesh. The Chief Guest for the occasion were Mr. Souviksaha, Founder trustee member of an NGO ‘People for Change’ and Mrs. Rituchachara, an Entrepreneur. The prize winning Folk Tales are as follows:
- 1st Prize – A Long Nosed Boy (Italian Folk Tale)
- 2nd Prize – Scotland Mermaid Wife (Scottish Folk Tale)
- 3rd Prize – Sinhabahu (Sri Lankan Folk Tale)
Under this project , the students first studied the folktales in groups followed by making story sequence tables and writing character sketch for a better understanding of the story. Under the special activity , “Weaved Tales across Borders ”the students have framed the beginning of a folktale and sent it for its continuation to the partner schools in Turkey & Sri Lanka .
