Road Safety Week is celebrated every year from 8th to 14th January. This year’s theme for the campaign is “Avoid Over Speeding – Prevent Accidents”. In order to create mass scale awareness on road safety, JUSCO along with Tata Steel, Tata Motors, TCIL, Tata Pigments, TRF, Jamipol, ISWP, Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Schools and SAFE Clubs organized the Flag-Off of the awareness rally today at the Gopal Maidan. The rally was flagged-off by Mr Prabhat Kumar, IPS, SP (City), East Singhbhum in the presence of Mr Sanji Paul, VP (Safety, Environment & Corporate Sustainability), Tata Steel, Mr Sunil Bhaskaran, VP (Corporate Services), Tata Steel, Mr Ashish Mathur, MD, JUSCO, Mr R N Murthy, Executive Director, TCIL and Mr Vilas Gaikwad, Chief Safety, Tata Steel.
During the flag-off, students from various schools and PATH (a renowned theater group) performed Nukkad-Natak on road safety. More than 200 students from across the schools participated at the launch function. Members from Mini Bus Association and School Van Drivers Association participated in large numbers. Approx. 150 vans with safety message were flagged-off by Mr Prabhat Kumar.
During the week many activities will be organized to sensitize and create awareness on road safety. Events like Nukkd-Natak at market places and parking areas, Helmet checking at strategic locations, un-authorized parking / No parking, safety quiz, counseling of school kids and parents, etc.
