In a bid to provide modern transportation facilities to the industrial city of Jamshedpur, the state government has initiated the process for constructing a state-of-the-art Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT). Under Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s vision for smooth and comfortable travel, this terminal will be developed on 13 acres of land near Mango Dimna Chowk.

Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar has granted in-principle approval for the project to be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), and the proposal is being forwarded for administrative sanction. Urban Development Department Principal Secretary Sunil Kumar has been directed to ensure high-quality construction of the ISBT. The implementation responsibility has been assigned to JUIDCO, while Karnataka-based IDEC Agency has prepared the project blueprint, estimated to cost ₹145.24 crore.

Project Features
The main terminal building will be five storeys (two basements, ground plus three floors), while the commercial building will have one basement, ground and three floors. The complex will include 50 ideal parking bays, 23 alighting bus bays, parking for 300 cars and 350 bikes, the office and warehouse of the Water Resources Department, STP (Sewage Treatment Plant), WTP (Water Treatment Plant), ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), and an internal road network.

Passenger Amenities
First Floor: 80-seat air-conditioned waiting hall, 120-bed passenger dormitory, 60-bed drivers’ dormitory, food court, shops, security office, travel administration office, and restrooms.
Ground Floor: 23 bus bays, 18 ticket counters, cloakroom, logistics centre, restaurant, public restrooms, and a food court.
The premises will also be decorated with Jharkhandi art and paintings, giving passengers a glimpse of the state’s cultural heritage.
Once completed, the project is expected to significantly enhance passenger amenities in Jamshedpur and strengthen the state’s public transportation infrastructure, benefitting not only the city but also the entire Kolhan region and neighbouring districts.
