The 102nd Meeting of Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) was held under the Chairmanship of Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway at Kolkata today (18.02.2022).
The ZRUCC Meeting was attended by Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Govt. of India, Sri Saumitra Khan, Hon’ble MP , Sri Bidyut Baran Mahato, Hon’ble MP, Sri Sunil Kumar Mondal, Hon’ble MP, Sri Mathura Prasad Mahato, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Shyamal Mondal, Hon’ble MLA and other Hon’ble Members representing various fields including Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Passenger Associations, Consumer Guidance Association etc. from three States viz. West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand which fall under the jurisdiction of S E Railway. Representatives from State Governments were also present at the meeting. Altogether 17 Hon’ble Members of ZRUCC attended the meeting.
Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, S.E.Railway apprised the Hon’ble Members of the recent achievements and developmental activities of SER inspite of the challenges faced due to COVID-19 pandemic. She mentioned about the initiatives in passenger amenities, progress of construction work, improvement of safety measures, growth in freight loading etc. General Manager also stated about phase wise restoration of train services which were suspended due to outbreak of pandemic.
The Hon’ble Members while appreciating the developmental measures taken by S.E.Railway, offered their valuable suggestions for further improvement of train services, passenger amenities and better connectivity. Suggestions and demands of the members included extension of services, additional stoppages of trains, increase in frequency of trains, restoration of pre-pandemic train services, construction of new lines etc. They also mentioned about the need of more passenger amenities at stations like lift, escalator, platform shed etc. Issues like connectivity between adjoining Zonal Railways, construction of under-pass, change in timings to suit the needs of commuters etc. were also discussed during the meeting. Moreover, discussion was also held to facilitate in moving of traffic through railways.
