South Eastern Railway observed International Day of Yoga-2022 with great enthusiasm today (21.06.2022). The theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for Humanity”.
Ms. Archana Joshi, General Manager, South Eastern Railway was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the Yoga Session at SER Headquarters, Garden Reach. Sri Atulya Sinha, Additional General Manager, Dr. Mahua Verma, Principal Chief Personnel Officer and other Senior Officers were also present. Two Yoga Camps were organised at SER Headquarters wherein expert Yoga Instructors from “Art of Living, Kolkata Centre” demonstrated Asanas, meditation and breathing exercises. A large number of Officers and Staff took part in the Yoga practice sessions. The International Day of Yoga was also observed in all the four divisions of SER viz. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi.
Yoga promotes wellness and fitness. It is not just physical exercise but also helps to achieve mental and spiritual well being. In the midst of pandemic, Yoga has assumed even greater importance as it helps to strengthen respiratory system. Railway employees have to work in various stressful situations and Yoga can help them to be more relaxed, energetic and enthusiastic. Yoga practice provides a sense of relaxation and fresh energy to devote to work.
Apart from Headquarters and Divisional offices, Yoga practice sessions were also organised at Stations, Workshops, RPF Barracks, Running Rooms, Railway Schools, Officers Club, Railway Institutes etc.
