Jamshedpur: Local lad Sahil Amin claims the Boys Singles Under-16 title at the just concluded United Club AITA Championship Series 2019, held at the red clay courts of the United Club and Beldih Club.
Amin, ranked at 111 in the country, managed to pocket the opening set by a close 7-6(4) which witnessed hold of serves by both the players till 6-6. In the second, Amin seemed confident as he took a quick lead of 4-1 from where the Bengal boy, Arya Bhattacharya make a stunning comeback and eventually grabbed the set by 7-5. In the decider, it was the top seeded Bhattacharya who faltered in a 3hr 15min marathon as Amin won the set by a comparatively comfortable 6-3. Amin got richer by 25 junior national points in the Boys Under-16 category.
The Girls Singles Under-16 final was more of a one-sided affair as the top seeded Simran Neha Ekka of Odisha proved to be too good for Bengal’s Oindrila Sen. Ekka won by a straight 6-1, 6-4.
The Boys Doubles Under-16 title was clinched by the pair from Odisha, D Aryan Swamy and Yashraj Nayak. They won against the top seeds, Arya Bhattacharya and Sahil Amin, by a close 7-6(6), 6-4.
