Jamshedpur:
A major disruption awaits daily commuters in the Chakradharpur Railway Division as a shortage of loco pilots has forced the cancellation of 32 MEMU and passenger trains between November 25 and 27. The cancellation will severely impact local passengers who depend on these trains for their daily travel to and from Tatanagar and nearby regions.
Railway officials confirmed that the Chief Loco Inspector (CLI) examination is scheduled in Chakradharpur on November 26. A large number of loco pilots will participate in this examination, causing a temporary manpower shortage across the division. To ensure the smooth operation of long-distance mail and express trains, the division has decided to cancel MEMU and passenger services for three days.
The cancellation also affects three pairs of MEMU trains that connect Tatanagar to President Droupadi Murmu’s native village, causing additional inconvenience to passengers travelling to rural areas. Railway officials also cited technical reasons and operational constraints on certain routes, making it difficult to run MEMU services during this period.
A notification issued on November 23, 2025, states that trains are being cancelled due to “unavoidable technical reasons” and “low staff availability.” The railway has asked passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and make alternate arrangements.
