In a remarkable demonstration of its commitment to wildlife conservation and operational safety, Chakradharpur Division of SER temporarily halted the movement of trains between Bisra and Bondamunda on 01.11.2025 to ensure the safe passage of a herd of elephants.
In close coordination with the Forest department and as per their advice, movement of goods trains as well as passenger trains were stopped and resumed over this area for several times also on 31.10.2025.
The decision was taken promptly after field officials reported the movement of elephants near the railway track. Train operations were temporarily suspended to prevent any untoward incident.
Train moment was suspended in all lines between Bisra and Bondamunda from 00:10 hours on 01.11.2025 . Down line became operational at 2:30 hours with a speed restriction of 30 kmph. Later, trains movement resumed in all lines with normal speed at 4:45 hours. A number of goods trains and passenger trains were detained due to the incident.
