Jamshedpur: Rituraj Sinha, Managing Director (MD) of Tata Steel UISL — a 100% subsidiary of Tata Steel — passed away suddenly on Sunday at the age of 58. According to family members, his health deteriorated rapidly at his residence when he began vomiting blood and also experienced severe nasal bleeding.
He was immediately rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors examined him and declared him dead at 1:56 PM. His sudden demise has sent a wave of shock and grief across the corporate fraternity.
His last rites will be performed on December 9 at Parvati Ghat, Bistupur.
Soft-Spoken and Inspirational Leader
Rituraj Sinha was widely respected for his calm nature, simplicity, and warm personality. Tata Steel management confirmed his demise and described him as an inspirational and impactful leader who played a vital role in strengthening the organisation.
Colleagues remember him as someone who always promoted teamwork, transparent communication, and an inclusive work culture. His leadership brought new energy and positivity across multiple departments.
Significant Role in City Development and Civic Services
During his long tenure with Tata Steel and its various units, Sinha handled several key responsibilities. His contribution to the improvement of civic amenities, modern urban projects, and service upgradation in Jamshedpur was highly significant.
He played a major role in infrastructure development, waste management systems, water and drainage improvements, road safety initiatives, and other vital urban services. His commitment toward city development will be remembered for years to come.
Corporate, Union, and Political Leaders Mourn His Death
As the news of his demise spread, senior Tata Steel officials, representatives of Tata Workers’ Union, and Tata Steel Utilities Union reached TMH to pay their respects. All termed his loss a major setback for the industry and the city of Jamshedpur.
Jamshedpur (West) MLA Saryu Rai said:
“His passing is a huge blow to ongoing efforts to improve public amenities in the city. He was an efficient administrator. Om Shanti.”JMM central spokesperson Kunal Sarangi expressed grief, saying:
“This is an irreparable loss for the industrial sector. May the departed soul rest in peace.”BJP leader Abhay Singh also paid tribute and said:
“I am deeply saddened by the demise of JUSCO MD Rituraj Sinha. He was soft-spoken, friendly, and deeply committed to solving problems with sincerity. Our association goes back to the days when he had joined JUSCO as a junior officer.He was sensitive toward social issues. Even a few days ago, when I wished him well after learning about his illness, he replied personally. God has taken him too soon. I pray for peace to his soul.”
