Jamshedpur (Jharkhand): Acting on the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum, Jamshedpur police achieved success in their anti-crime drive by arresting a man with illegal firearms. The arrest took place during a raid in the Mandal Basti DBC area under Telco police station.
The arrested accused has been identified as Kanhaiya Lal (45 years), son of late Giridhari Lal, a resident of East Plan Basti, Line No. 07, Punjabi Line, under Vermamais police station, East Singhbhum district. His permanent address is Mirzapur village, Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, they received a secret tip-off about a suspicious man roaming in the locality with a firearm. Acting swiftly, a police team conducted a raid. On seeing the police, the suspect attempted to flee, but Constable 388 Samsh Tabrez Khurshid chased and caught him.
Upon searching, the police recovered one loaded country-made pistol, two magazines, two live cartridges (7.65 mm), a keypad mobile phone, and a blue bag from his possession. All seized items have been taken into custody, and the accused has been formally arrested and sent to judicial remand.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the firearm and whether the accused has links with any criminal networks. During initial interrogation, the accused failed to provide satisfactory answers.
