Jamshedpur: Kadma police have busted a mobile theft gang during the Ganesh Puja fair and arrested four notorious thieves. Police recovered a total of nine stolen mobile phones along with SIM cards from their possession. The gang consisted of youths from Sahibganj (Jharkhand) and West Bengal, who mainly targeted women and elderly people in crowded areas.

How the gang was caught
On 24th August 2025, during patrolling in the Kadma market area, police received information about youths stealing mobile phones. Acting swiftly, the police caught one thief red-handed. During interrogation, he confessed to being part of a mobile theft gang. Based on his leads, police arrested three more members from Mango JK Society and recovered five more stolen phones.

Police Statement
The Kadma police station in-charge stated that the gang had earlier committed thefts in Hart Bazaar and other crowded places. Cases have been registered against the accused at Kadma police station, and further action is underway.
