The DEO briefed the Counting Supervisors on the proper verification of EVM seals, supervision of the counting stages, and accurate preparation of result sheets. He emphasised that every official must follow the Commission’s instructions without deviation, as precision and transparency are crucial to maintaining the credibility of the election process.
Counting Assistants were trained to correctly read results from the Control Units, record data on official documents, and fill out the required forms accurately. Meanwhile, Micro Observers were instructed to maintain strict vigilance during every counting round, ensuring complete fairness, accuracy, and transparency.
Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) will act as overall coordinators in each counting hall. They will be responsible for resolving any technical or procedural issues that may arise during the counting process. In line with Election Commission directives, VVPAT slip counting will also be conducted to ensure cross-verification and transparency.
Speaking at the session, DEO Karn Satyarthi said, “The counting of votes is the most sensitive and critical phase of the electoral process. Every member of the counting staff must perform their duties with utmost discipline and accuracy. Transparency and impartiality remain our top priorities, and no negligence will be tolerated.”
To ensure a secure environment, a three-tier security arrangement has been deployed at the counting centre. Entry will strictly be allowed only to authorised pass holders, and the entire premises will remain under continuous CCTV surveillance. Every round of counting will be recorded for future reference and scrutiny.
As Ghatsila eagerly awaits the final verdict of the by-election, the administration is ensuring a smooth, error-free, and transparent counting process that upholds the values of democratic conduct.
