Jamshedpur: Jharkhand’s political landscape witnessed a major upheaval on Thursday as several senior leaders and office bearers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). This development has significantly reshaped the political equations in East Singhbhum district, especially with the Ghatshila Assembly by-election just around the corner.
Among those who joined JMM were Pankaj Sinha, Vice President of the East Singhbhum Zilla Parishad; Saurabh Chakraborty, former BJP Rural District President and State Executive Member; Khagen Mahato, Zilla Parishad Member; Kaushik Sinha, Ghatshila BJP Mandal President; Tushar Patra, former Mandal President of Musabani; Suresh Mahali, BJP Media Incharge; and Bunty Singh, President of the Jambu Akhara, Jamshedpur.
All these leaders formally joined JMM in the presence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who personally inducted them into the party. The event also witnessed the presence of JMM Central Spokesperson and former MLA Kunal Sarangi, and District Council Chairperson Bari Murmu.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren welcomed the new members through social media, stating, “JMM is a party that represents the sentiments of the people. The respected leaders of East Singhbhum have now become part of the JMM family. The blessings of the people are our true strength.” He further expressed confidence that the people would bless JMM with a massive victory in the upcoming Ghatshila by-election.

The Chief Minister reiterated that JMM has always been dedicated to the identity of Jharkhand, the dignity of the tribal community, and inclusive development. “The fact that BJP leaders are continuously joining JMM shows that people want change and are placing their trust in our leadership,” he said.
JMM Spokesperson Kunal Sarangi commented, “BJP has lost the confidence of its own leaders and workers. Under Hemant Soren’s leadership, our government is prioritizing development, employment, and social justice.” District Council Chairperson Bari Murmu added, “A new spirit of equality and empowerment is emerging under the leadership of Hemant Soren.”
