All administrative preparations for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election have been completed. Voting will take place on November 11 from 7 AM to 5 PM. District Election Officer Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey shared detailed information about polling arrangements and security measures during a press conference held at the District Collectorate Auditorium on Sunday.
District Election Officer Satyarthi said that webcasting has been arranged at all 300 polling booths under the Ghatshila Assembly constituency. On November 10, polling teams will be dispatched from the Cooperative College campus. Over 1,200 polling personnel, including reserve teams, will be on duty. The administration has identified 186 critical polling stations, which will be under special surveillance. To ensure peaceful voting, 30 micro-observers have been appointed, and 10 companies of CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) will be deployed across the constituency.
Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey informed that inter-district and inter-state borders have been sealed 72 hours before polling to prevent the entry of any anti-social or external elements. Continuous checks are being carried out in hotels, lodges, guesthouses, and marriage halls to ensure they are not misused for political activities.
The administration has also announced that all campaigning will end at 5 PM on November 9. After that, no public meetings, processions, films, TV shows, or musical events related to election promotion will be allowed. The entire district will observe a Dry Day from November 9, 5 PM to November 11, 5 PM.
The District Election Officer emphasized that no campaigning, banners, posters, or party flags will be allowed within 100 meters of any polling booth. Voters and polling agents will not be permitted to carry mobile phones or communication devices inside the polling area. Voter slips will not contain any candidate names or party symbols.
Furthermore, no political advertisements can be published in print or electronic media without prior approval from the MCMC (Media Certification and Monitoring Committee). Opinion polls and exit polls will be strictly prohibited during the voting period.
Since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, enforcement agencies have seized materials worth ₹3.30 crore, including cash, liquor, and freebies. A total of 1,233 firearms have been deposited, 100 licenses revoked, and 600 non-bailable warrants issued. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against any violations of election rules.
